Dog-Skin-Disorders.com is dedicated to providing quality information on the subject of Dog Skin Disorders and in particular, on how to heal your dog naturally and holistic, and also by ensuring their environment and diet are well taken care of.

I’m an owner myself, of the greatest dog in the world, who is aptly named "Hunter" :) However, recently, Hunter started suffering from an unknown dog skin disorder that had him scratching, licking and biting constantly.

I turned to the Internet and found that there are many people whose pets are affected by various skin disorders of all kinds! And that’s when I decided to set up a website dedicated to this issue.

Here you will find helpful reviews, informative information and tips and much more. This site is in the format of a ‘weblog’ so that each time I post new information, it will come to the top of the front page. This means that you can check back here frequently to see new updates to the information found here.

You can navigate through the site by using the menus on the sides of the page. Also don’t hesitate to follow the links you see in bold throughout each post to learn more about the product being spoken about.

I hope you find the information I provide valuable and helpful.

All the best,
Kristy

One Response to “About Us”

  1. Hi Kristy,
firstly congratulations on the site it looks really well and there is certainly a need for a resource like this. how is Hunter now? i am glad to see you have recognised the usefulness of herbs in managing skin conditions. all too often dogs with these chronic itchy skins are simply treated with repeated bouts of antibiotics and corticosteroids.
the root of most of these is an allergy or allergies to something the dog is coming in contact with eg food pollens household cleaning products etc etc.

due to the lipid layer (oily secretion) of a dogs skin being very sensitive to disruption by any inflammation you get a secondary skin infection (pyoderma) very quickly. this is because the normal bacterial population of the skin require a stable lipid layer. so disruption of the lipid layer results in overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria, in much the same way as disruption of gut environment results in overgrowth of ‘bad’ bacteria in the gut. interestingly many skin conditions will clear up if you address the health of the gut

this is because the skin is one of the major excretory organs of the body. this is why your dogs diet is so important..not just from the point of view of ‘hypoallergenic’ diets but just good quality with minimum artificial additives and definitely no colours flavours or preservatives. if you put rubbish in you get rubbish out!
recognising the skin as an organ is important as it will help understand how other factors like stress, immune status, exercise, and the health of every other body system will have its effect on the skin.

if Hunter is still having problems i would be happy to give you some specific advice tailored to his particular skin problem. we have had huge success treating all types of skin disease in dogs and cats using herbs only. we give herbs internally rather than topically as, from what i have said above, you can see that the problems are always more than skin deep.

    good luck with the site.
